Fundraising for the Lomira K9 Program was started in January of 2019 with the approval of the Village Board. All members of the department worked hard at raising funds to acquire the K9. In a short time businesses and citizens donated enough money to fund the program. The officer chosen to be the K9 handler left the Lomira Police Department left the department in 2020 and the K9 was returned to the kennel.
The Village Board expressed a desire that the K9 program is continued and in 2021 Officer Justman was hired by the department and he expressed a great desire to become the department’s new K9 handler. In September the department will go to Jessifany Canine Services in Iron Ridge and select a single-purpose K9. In October, Officer Justman will start training with his new K9 partner.
The Lomira Police Department K9 Unit is donation-based and appreciates your support! Please contact the Lomira Police Department if you wish to contribute to our fund.
